Sometimes
a job comes along that most people shake their
heads at. Jobs in which space to move is a problem,
where the work areas are hard to get at, where
the work conditions are extreme for people, and
getting your equipment into position is difficult
to say the least.
The
bilge of the HMAS Adelaide was one of those jobs.
With
the bilge of the engine and boiler room's paint
peeling away, the rust exposed, it was necessary
to take the whole lot back to bare metal, and
re-paint from scratch. With immovable ship equipment
and piping, electrics in the way cramped, confined
conditions, temperatures hitting 30°C+ and
little ventilation, the job would have been quite
uncomfortable. Combined with the fact that most
of the work needing to be done took place UNDER
the floor panels, the job looked like it would
be a nightmare...
For
Jetcut Field, it was a walk in
the park!
Using
similair technology that was developed for our
cleat cleaning tool, and a well trained blasting
team, Jetcut Field easily stripped
back the paint and rust to bare metal! Such is
the efficiency of the Jetcut Field
equipment, the whole project was completed well
ahead of schedule.
End
result: One freshly painted bilge, and one happy
Australian Navy!
